The school of Materials science and Engineering in the XIHUA university was established in January of 2004,based on original the department of Materials science and Engineering ,Key laboratory as well as others Institutes. At present, the school includes two departments, five institutes and one key laboratory, namely Department of material science and Engineering, Department of materials processing and control Engineering, Institute of Foundry, Institute of die, Institute of welding, Institute of functional materials and surface techniques Institute of Nano material, as well as center of Experiments and testing.
     The school also possesses Sichuan key laboratory of special materials and processing techniques. Sichuan key discipline. In the master student education, there are the specialties of materials science and materials processing, and there is the materials Areas of engineering master student; in the undergraduates¡¯ education. There are the specialties of Engineering science and Engineering, materials processing and control Engineering, including metals materials Engineering, polymers materials Engineering, materials of electron and information, foundry processing and control Engineering, welding processing and control Engineering, Die Design and processing Engineering, materials forming Engineering, inorganic nonmetallic materials.
     At present, the school has about 1300 students, including about 120 master students, and about 1080 undergraduate students, there are 10 professors, and 12 associate professors, 10 lectures.
     The school has taken on over 100 various national scientific research projects, among them, the projects are from the national natural science foundation, the national ¡°863¡± ¡°973¡± fundamental research projects, Sichuan province foundation research projects, up to now, there are over 20 projects awarded prizes of science and technology progress by local provinces or various ministries of the stake; over 1000 academic papers have been published, in which about 100 papers have been in clouded in ¡°SCI¡± ¡°EI¡± and ¡°ISTP¡±.
